Confirm that you qualify
The course is required for eligible first-time Texas driver license applicants ages 18–24. Adults age 25 or older may also take it voluntarily to satisfy the knowledge-test requirement.

Register online
Create your account and enroll in the TDLR-approved six-hour course for $28.95.

Learn at your pace
Work through eight chapters and the course summary. Your progress is saved automatically across sessions, and you have 180 days to complete the course.

Pass the Final Knowledge Test
Earn a score of 70% or higher. Three attempts are included.

Receive Your Electronic Certificate
We process and email your electronic Certificate of Completion within three business days after you pass. Same-day electronic processing is available for an additional charge.

Complete the Remaining Licensing Steps
Complete the Impact Texas Adult Drivers program before your driving skills test. Bring the required documents to DPS, pass the vision and driving tests, and complete the remaining application requirements.

Certificate process
Your Course Includes the Knowledge Test
After you pass the course knowledge test, your electronic Certificate of Completion provides proof of completion. You will not need to take a separate knowledge test at DPS, but you must still complete the remaining application, ITAD, vision, and driving-test requirements.
