Primary Local Driving Topic: Broadway and Austin Highway Transitions
For an Alamo Heights student, one of the most useful skills is learning how to move from a neighborhood street into a regional corridor without making rushed lane decisions.
Start with simple intersections. Then practice turning onto a larger road, identifying the correct lane, maintaining speed with surrounding traffic, and preparing for the next turn before reaching it.
The current Broadway and Ogden improvements reinforce another lesson: familiar roads can change. Temporary lane closures, construction signs, pedestrians, and altered traffic patterns require the driver to respond to what is actually on the road.
