Texas DPS states that a 6-hour adult driver education course is required for a person ages 18 through 24 who is applying for a first Texas driver license. The requirement is waived for a new Texas resident age 18 or older who surrenders a valid, unexpired out-of-state driver license. Applicants age 25 and older do not have a driver education requirement.

The adult course does not itself issue a Texas driver license. After completing the applicable education requirement, the applicant still has to complete the DPS licensing process, including required documentation, vision screening, and applicable knowledge and driving tests.

Teen Applicants

Texas uses a graduated licensing process for teen drivers.

A teen generally:

1. Completes the applicable driver education classroom requirement.
2. Applies for a Texas learner license after reaching the required age and meeting the education and documentation requirements.
3. Practices with a qualified licensed adult.
4. Completes the required behind-the-wheel and observation training.
5. Completes the required supervised driving practice.
6. Holds the learner license for at least six months unless an applicable exception applies.

8. Passes the driving test.
9. Applies for the provisional license.

The learner license requires a licensed adult who is at least 21 years old in the front passenger seat. Texas also prohibits cell phone use while operating under the learner-license restrictions.

FM 1905 connects the Anthony area westward toward New Mexico and includes local street names within the community.

Clint

Clint is in the Lower Valley area of the county. SH 20, FM 1110, and FM 76 are important local routes. TxDOT has studied FM 1110 as a connection between I-10 and SH 20 near Clint and San Elizario.

Socorro

Socorro is part of the county's growing Lower Valley transportation network and is connected to Horizon City through the Horizon Boulevard corridor.

San Elizario

San Elizario lies south of Clint and is connected to the regional network through SH 20 and FM 1110.

Vinton

Vinton is a small incorporated community in western El Paso County near the I-10 corridor.
