Primary Local Driving Topic: I-20 Ramp and Interstate Driving
Cisco is the Eastland County location where freeway access deserves the most attention.
A student should learn the difference between a city intersection and a freeway entrance. On an I-20 ramp, the driver needs to build speed, identify an appropriate gap, check mirrors and blind spots, and merge without stopping in the acceleration lane unless traffic conditions make it necessary.
The exit side requires a different habit. Drivers should move toward the appropriate lane early rather than making a last-second lane change.
TxDOT has specifically studied I-20 ramp relocations in Cisco, with the project covering entry and exit ramps inside the city limits. (Texas Department of Transportation)
