Texas DPS currently describes the commercial-school block method as completing the classroom portion before obtaining the learner license. Current DPS learner-license materials describe 24 classroom hours for the commercial block method.

There is an important distinction for families comparing commercial teen education with PTDE. TDLR's current PTDE guide describes the PTDE block method as 32 classroom hours, while current DPS materials describe 24 classroom hours for the general teen block method. A first-time Texas driver license applicant who is 18 through 24 generally must complete a six-hour adult driver education course before testing for a Texas driver license.

FM 278

FM 289

Morse is an unincorporated community rather than an incorporated city. Its rural location makes the distinction between town driving and open-road driving particularly relevant for students who live in or around the community.
