Adults should not use the teen course simply because they are new drivers.

Texas DPS states that a six-hour adult driver education course is required for first-time applicants ages 18 through 24 who are subject to the requirement. A new Texas resident who is 18 or older and surrenders a valid, unexpired out-of-state license is exempt from this requirement. ITAD

Teen Applicants

The typical process involves:

1. Complete the applicable teen classroom stage.

The most useful local skill is learning how to transition from town driving to state-highway driving.
