Primary Local Driving Topic: Rural Farm-to-Market Roads
The strongest local driving lesson around Josephine is the transition between rural Farm-to-Market roads and more developed highways.
A new driver should learn to look farther ahead than they would on a residential street. Curves, intersections, driveway entrances, slower vehicles and changes in roadway design can appear with less advance warning than in a dense commercial corridor.
FM 1777 and FM 6 are particularly useful examples. Both corridors are involved in TxDOT improvement projects, so students should also expect construction signs and changing roadway configurations as work progresses. (Texas Department of Transportation)
