Primary Local Driving Topic: I-35E and Lake Traffic
Lake Dallas is a good place to teach the difference between local driving and regional freeway driving. A student may leave a residential neighborhood, reach a commercial corridor, merge onto I-35E, and later return to two-lane or lower-speed streets.
That transition requires deliberate scanning and speed control. Drivers should not carry freeway habits into neighborhood streets or assume that a familiar freeway entrance will always have the same traffic conditions.
