Leander, Texas Online Driver’s Ed

The City of Leander completed a U.S. 183 Corridor Study covering the segment from the north end of 183A to Osage Drive.

The study was approved in January 2025 and recommends roadway, pedestrian, drainage, railroad-crossing, and corridor improvements.

Students should expect:

• multilane traffic
• commercial entrances
• railroad crossings
• signalized intersections
• high-growth development

Leander distinguishes U.S. 183 from 183A, with TxDOT responsible for U.S. 183 and CTRMA responsible for 183A.

Students should understand the difference between:

• conventional U.S. 183
• 183A toll lanes
• frontage roads
• local access roads

Leander is actively studying a rail grade separation at Crystal Falls Parkway and U.S. 183.

The city held a community information meeting in January 2026 and states that the 2025 U.S. 183 Corridor Study recommended grade separations at Crystal Falls Parkway, Hero Way, and San Gabriel Parkway.

This is proposed infrastructure, not completed construction.

The Williamson County baseline identifies RM 2243 as a major Leander corridor.

Students should practice:

• large intersections
• construction awareness
• rural-to-suburban transitions
• early lane selection
