Primary Local Driving Topic: Freeway and Frontage-Road Driving
Lewisville is an especially useful place to focus on the relationship between a freeway and its frontage roads.
A new driver should understand that frontage roads are not simply slower versions of the freeway. They have intersections, traffic signals, turn lanes, driveway entrances, pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles entering and leaving businesses.
At the same time, freeway ramps require early lane positioning and controlled acceleration.
The city has identified I-35E as a major north-south corridor with extensive frontage-road access. (City of Lewisville)
