Primary Local Driving Topic: US 380 Construction and Changing Road Configurations
US 380 deserves special attention for Little Elm students because the corridor has undergone extensive reconstruction. Town updates have documented lane closures, traffic switches, new overpasses, turn lanes, U-turns, lighting, signals and sidewalks. (Little Elm)
A beginning driver should not rely only on memory when traveling through a construction area. Watch the pavement markings, temporary signs, lane-control devices and traffic signals. If a familiar intersection has been rebuilt, follow the current configuration rather than assuming the road works the way it did on a previous trip.
This is also a good area for supervised practice once the student has developed basic vehicle-control skills.
