The six-hour adult course generally applies to first-time applicants ages 18 through 24. A qualifying new Texas resident who surrenders a valid, unexpired out-of-state license can be exempt. Applicants age 25 and older have no driver education requirement.

The adult course is separate from the road test. Applicants who completed the six-hour course must also complete ITAD before the skills examination.

Teen Applicants

A student practicing in Nesbitt will spend more time on the transition between a small community and regional highway travel than a student practicing only in central Longview.

SH 154 is the key local reference point. Nesbitt lies northwest of Marshall along this state highway, and county information places the community within the broader Marshall-area road network.

The surrounding area includes smaller roads and rural properties. A student should therefore practice checking for side-road traffic, managing speed on open stretches, and recognizing intersections before reaching them.

Professional in-car training may require travel to a nearby larger community because Nesbitt is small and does not have the same concentration of driver education businesses as Longview or Marshall.
