Primary Local Driving Topic: Moving From FM 2148 to I 30
Red Lick's most useful local driving lesson is the transition from a small community roadway to the nearby interstate.
A beginning driver should learn to approach highway access without rushing the decision. Signs should be read early, mirrors checked before lane changes, and the driver should understand whether the roadway leads toward an entrance ramp, frontage road, or local intersection.
TxDOT's current I 30 program includes changes to frontage roads, ramps, turnarounds, and bridges in Bowie County. That means a familiar route can have temporary or redesigned traffic movements. (Texas Department of Transportation)
