Rogers, Texas Online Driver's Ed

The PTDE program combines classroom education with in-car training and supervised practice. Current Texas rules provide for at least 24 classroom hours, 7 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, 7 hours of observation, and 30 additional supervised driving hours, including at least 10 nighttime hours. An adult first-time Texas applicant ages 18 through 24 generally needs the 6-hour adult driver education course unless an applicable exemption applies. A new resident who surrenders a valid, unexpired out-of-state license is exempt from the adult course requirement, and applicants age 25 or older do not have a driver education requirement. Teen Applicants

A teen can begin the licensing process at age 15 after completing the required classroom stage for the selected method and satisfying DPS documentation requirements. The learner license permits supervised practice.

Rogers sits within a county where I-35, US 190, SH 36, SH 95, and numerous Farm-to-Market roads create different driving environments. The county's eastern communities have more rural highway characteristics, while Temple and the I-35 corridor have more multilane urban and freeway driving.

Eastern Bell County has an agricultural road network. Drivers should expect slower-moving equipment on rural roads and avoid passing unless sight distance and road markings make the maneuver legal and safe.

Railroad History and Road Awareness

Temple Drivers

Temple is the nearest major urban center for many Rogers residents and provides access to I-35, Loop 363, US 190, SH 36, and SH 95.

Troy Drivers

Troy lies west of Rogers along the I-35 corridor and provides another transition between smaller-town roads and interstate driving.

Salado Drivers

Salado is farther west along I-35 and has a different combination of freeway and local-road driving.

Belton Drivers

Belton connects the central county transportation system and is important for drivers moving between the I-35 and US 190 corridors.
