Primary Local Driving Topic: I-30, Frontage Roads and Highway Access
The most useful local skill for a Royse City beginner is learning how to move safely between local streets, frontage roads and I-30.
Current TxDOT work has produced temporary closures and detours involving I-30, FM 2642 and frontage roads. A recent city notice explains that eastbound I-30 traffic may be diverted onto the frontage road during nighttime work and that motorists coming from SH 66 may use frontage-road routes to reach FM 35.
That is exactly the kind of situation students need to learn to handle: follow signs, slow down when traffic patterns change, avoid sudden lane changes and understand that the route shown on a navigation app may not match the normal road arrangement.
