Primary Local Driving Topic: US 175 and Highway Entry Skills
For Seagoville students, one of the most useful skills to practice is the transition from local roads to US 175 and other higher-speed routes.
A student should learn to:
- Check traffic well before reaching the entrance
- Accelerate appropriately for the roadway
- Identify the lane they need before entering
- Check mirrors and blind spots
- Merge without stopping in a moving entrance lane unless traffic conditions require it
- Leave adequate space after merging
- Begin preparing for an exit well before the actual ramp
These skills are especially important when the driver has limited experience with multilane traffic.
