Learning the Seminole Highway Grid
The main local challenge for a beginning driver is learning how US 62, US 385, SH 214 and FM 181 fit together.
A student can be comfortable driving around town but still struggle when a trip requires choosing the correct highway, making a turn across a larger roadway or adjusting speed after leaving the city.
Practice should include reading route shields before a turn, checking mirrors before changing lanes, watching for cross traffic and allowing more time to make decisions at unfamiliar intersections.
TxDOT's current roadway documents show stop-bar, lane-marking and school-related work at several Seminole intersections, including US 62 at 11th Street and 21st Street and SH 214 at US 62 and Avenue F.
