Primary Local Driving Topic: US 377 and the Transition Between Town and Rural Roads
For Whitesboro students, the most useful local driving lesson is learning how the same trip can move through several different road environments.
A driver may start on a residential street, enter a commercial section near US 377, travel on a higher-speed state or U.S. highway, and then transition to a rural Farm-to-Market road. Each transition changes the amount of time available to react.
Students should practice scanning well ahead, maintaining a safe following distance, identifying intersections early, and reducing speed when visibility or road design changes.
